IS WORKING FROM HOME A LITERAL PAIN IN THE NECK?

Here are some ways to ease the discomfort and get relief from long term discomfort:

  • Have the computer screen at eye level to reduce strain on your neck. Raise a laptop with a stand or books, and buy a separate mouse/trackball and keyboard if possible!
  • Have your feet touch the floor with knees bent 90 degrees and avoid placing feet on chair rings as that can put tension on your lower back over time.
  • Keep the forearms and thighs parallel to the floor while sitting at the desk/table.
  • Use a chair with proper back support and a small rolled-up towel for added lumbar support if needed! Your SP NE will thank you!
  • Don’t be a couch potato, this is VERY hard on your posture when trying to work on a computer.
  • Take breaks and be sure to get up and move, allowing your muscles to stretch. This will help not only with musculoskeletal aches and pains, but it will help clear your mind as well!
